Yup my contact 3 started to do the same thing in about the same number of trips, that’s the fastest I’ve sold a rod after getting it

Let’m hear it… I don’t need to tell ya what I’d replace that with, but it’s half the cost, way more rod, and superior customer service 😉

Mine melted in a hot car. Black SUV with Smith Rod holder. Tip sticking out over the dash. They sent me a new one in a few days. Told them they should put a warning label on the rod tube. Rod is fantastic. Solid tip is just too heat sensitive.

Also if you leave it in a hot car it’ll twist on its own, they’re super heat sensitive

Looks like a torsion break. I’ve Beat the absolute shit out of 5-6 contact 2s and have never seen anything like that.

They had a serious manufacturing issue with some of the 2wts. I do know-it’s been fixed. They will get you a new one pretty quick.

@kingfisher680 what do you put your rod into going from spot to spot? I have had that happen if it’s in a car or in the back of a truck. Especially if it’s a bumpy ride it will get caught In a crack then the graphite compresses
