…fighting 𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐓.

An interesting week of boxing culminated in a breathtaking fight at the 𝐘𝐎𝐑𝐊 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋.

@gormleyy set out to upset the applecart against a boxer firing on all cylinders. It was one of the bravest performances I’ve seen in a ring for a long time.

I interviewed Lee at the beginning of the week and asked whether this fight was a “must-win.”

In hindsight, I’ve realised how foolish that question is, because boxing revolves around so much more than simply winning or losing.

Maybe we get caught up too much in the “Mayweather effect” at times, at the almost abhorrent thought of defeat. But to think that way is to overlook all the facets and intrigues that make this the sport we love and cherish.

The bright lights of the 𝐘𝐎𝐑𝐊 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋 fizzed and rattled. The thudding of red and blackened gloves made for thunderous entertainment.

Both fighters gave everything beneath the roof of an arena that has seen 𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐋𝐋.

This wasn’t about victory, records or statistics. It was about the moments that create memories, shape careers and remind us what boxing is really about.
