Double podium!

Round 3 of the Quaker City Karting Series was this past Saturday and it was some of the most fun I’ve had karting.

To start of the morning just as races 1 and 2, it was raining. For practice, I was comfortable early on and finished P5 in 206 and P6 in ROTAX.

In qualifying, I had a great run in 206 finishing P6 and in ROTAX I continued my pace from practicing finishing P6 as well.

In the 206 prefinal, I had a good run off the line quickly making up a few spots, but when following the inside line I got pinched over the curb halfway through the lap and fell to 9th as I got caught out on my own with no one pushing me. Despite this tough opening lap, I fought back lap after lap and was able to come across the line in 3rd with the fastest lap!

When it was time for the ROTAX prefinal, the skies opened up and it rained just enough to wet the track. Opting to go out on slicks as I didn’t see enough water for rains, I knew the conditions would be tricky. Heading up the hill during the start, multiple karts slid behind me and I got hit from behind and turned around, falling to 9th, and stayed in no man’s land for the rest of the race, finishing 8th on track but 9th after being given an avoidable contact penalty.

In the 206 final, fast karts behind me worked past me early on and was 9th with three laps to go. Despite a tough start, I stayed focused and kept my nose clean on a big incident on the last lap and crossed the line 0.367 seconds off the win in P4/36, but 3rd out of the Great Lakes Sprint Series participants!

In ROTAX, a rough start going four wheels off track left me last after turns four and five, but for the rest of the race I ran clean, consistent laps, and crossed the line in P4/13, 2nd out of the Great Lakes Sprint Series participants!

This was a great start to the doubleheader weekend and I showed major improvements in my on-track decisions and passing.

Huge thanks to my dad for the extra help on two karts and @lawsonspeedshop for the fast engine.

Huge thank you to my partners for helping support my journey!
