WHO INFLUENCED OUR CONTESTANTS: For the past four years in winter, we have hosted our youth arts competition, Step Into The Light, to pay tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. who gave his notable and memorable 1964 speech to the National Republican Convention that was held here at the Cow Palace. Our event invites high school students from across the Bay Area to participate in this creative competition, giving each participant an opportunity to pay homage to MLK Jr.’s message of shining a light on current events and topics that need to be addressed, all through their creative interpretation and expression. This is just one of the many ways we give back each year, and we think you’ll enjoy this Community. episode of our docu-series, Guess What’s Coming to the Cow Palace?
