For Your Grammy Consideration: “Fix Your Face”

The first Grammy I ever saw in real life was on the fireplace at the late Quincy Jones’ house. I looked at it the same way I stared at the saxophone in the window of Mars Music Back in Virginia.

When I moved to Altadena, I used to have a place above my fireplace that i would dust every Sunday, dreaming of the day I’d put my Grammy there like my hero.

After my house burned down in the Altadena fires, I tried to pretend not to care about getting a Grammy anymore and act cool like it was a foolish dream. But the fix your face album for me was about taking off my cool and boldly saying I would love to win. I know who on my team it would effect greatly. The musicians, all the dreams we collectively have merged into one reality. One body of work. So for those that vote, I’d be honored if you’d be apart of me and a whole lotta music nerds and dreamers first Grammy story.

THIS TIME FOR AFRICA.
THIS TIME FOR TANZANIA. 🇹🇿⚔️

Warriors never quit. They stand tall, stay ready, and face whatever comes next. That’s me.

A daughter of this land.
Tanzania—my home, my soul, my pride.

Raised in peace. Strengthened by unity.
Carrying the spirit of my people wherever I go.

PROUDLY TANZANIAN. FOREVER AFRICAN. 🌍🇹🇿
