“The Squabbles of Man” … a species fighting in circles, and calling it purpose. “The Squabbles of Man” looks at the absurdity of conflict, and the remarkably trivial things we find to divide ourselves over. Subs or dubs. Comics or anime. Which singer is better, which brand is better, which team is better. Beneath it all is the same impulse: the need to be right, and for someone else to be wrong. We dress these disagreements up in ceremony, history and importance. We give them noble names, build monuments to them, and convince ourselves they mean more than they do. But strip all of that away, and so much of it begins to look exactly like what it is: a species fighting in circles and calling it purpose. “The Squabbles of Man” is one of 11 works from Shadows at Dusk, a series five years in the making. The series was exhibited at Gallery 8 in London earlier this month, and will be travelling to Los Angeles next. 535 - Finding Joy in Everyday Life Abbie shares about learning to slow down internally, even when life around her keeps moving. In the rush of routines, family, work and everything demanding our attention, it’s easy to miss the life we once prayed for. Sometimes the invitation is simply to notice - to wake up with gratitude and realise, “I can’t believe this is my life.” Abbie Gamboa is a worship leader, songwriter and artist based in Dallas, Texas, where she lives with her husband, Gabriel, and their kids, Enzo and Leona. Her latest album, Have You Ever Looked Around And Realized Everything You Ever Wanted Is Right In Front Of Your Eyes, is available now on all streaming platforms.
