Ross Geller became one of television’s most recognizable sitcom characters as the lovable but endlessly awkward paleontologist on Friends. Played by David Schwimmer, Ross balanced an impressive academic career with a personal life filled with memorable moments, from his on-again, off-again romance with Rachel Green to the infamous “We were on a break!” argument that became one of TV’s most quoted lines.

Despite often being the target of jokes for his nerdy personality and bad luck, Ross delivered many of the show’s biggest comedic moments, including the disastrous leather pants, the oversized couch shouting “Pivot!”, and his ill-fated spray tan. His mix of intelligence, insecurity, and physical comedy helped make him one of the defining sitcom characters of the 1990s, with many of his scenes continuing to go viral decades after Friends ended.
