⛴️ Introducing the Nieuw Amsterdam!
🤭 Am I allowed to have a favorite? (🤫Shh… don’t tell Holland America LOL). I think it might be this ship, and the reason for that is the history behind it.
📝 In my blog, I go into way more detail about the history of Holland America (and Crane, omg! Paul Revere!?). But it is important to note during my ship research I learned the original Nieuw Amsterdam sailed half a million miles transporting 400,000 troops for allied forces during World War II.
🫡 In honor of this legacy and with an eye toward the future, I unofficially titled the painting “Fair Winds and Following Seas” in encouragement of smooth voyages, new beginnings, and successful journeys.

I cruised to Alaska on the NA last summer. Would have loved to pick these up!
