🚔 deputy fatally shoots armed man after alleged threats and discovery of a meat cleaver follow @copscopez for the craziest police footage cabazon, california — on november 12, 2022, a riverside county sheriff’s deputy stopped 38-year-old kenneth scott wallis after reportedly observing him riding a bicycle against traffic during the encounter, a records check revealed wallis had an active felony arrest warrant related to a parole violation according to investigators, the deputy asked whether wallis was carrying any weapons, and wallis allegedly confirmed that he was armed authorities say wallis then made movements toward his waistband despite repeated commands to stop the deputy attempted to use an intermediate force option, but investigators say wallis then produced a meat cleaver from his clothing believing he faced an immediate threat of death or serious injury, the deputy fired his service weapon, striking wallis the deputy immediately attempted to provide medical aid, but wallis was pronounced dead at the scene no deputies or bystanders were injured the riverside county sheriff’s department later released bodycam footage as part of its critical incident transparency process, allowing the public to review the encounter 💬 how should officers respond when someone allegedly reaches for a weapon during a traffic enforcement encounter? #police #bodycam #cops #crime #explore
