11/03/26 | From Sam Forstag’s election night watch party at the Florence Building in Missoula: while waiting on results, female staffers for his campaign joined the band Girl Freak, featuring Forstag’s sister, Sophia Forstag, on bass, and sang “Unwritten.” The whole crowd sang along.

Forstag, a 32-year-old smokejumper and union leader from Missoula, declared victory just after midnight Wednesday in Montana’s western U.S. House race. Montana hasn’t elected a Democrat to the U.S. House in three decades.
