Today we celebrate freedom. 🇺🇸

As I thought about the Fourth of July, I realized that some of the most important freedom in my life didn’t come from changing my circumstances…

It came from letting go of beliefs that no longer served me.

At 58, there are a handful of things I simply don’t believe anymore. Not because someone convinced me otherwise, but because life has been a faithful teacher.

Some of these beliefs shaped the way I approached fitness.
Some shaped the way I viewed success.
Some came from childhood.
Some I carried for decades without even realizing it.

Letting them go hasn’t made me perfect.

It has made me freer.

I hope that as you swipe through these photos, you’ll find one that speaks to your own journey.

And when you reach the end, I hope you’ll remember this…

You don’t have to become someone else to belong.

Just keep returning.

I’d love to hear from you…

Which belief resonated with you the most? Or what is something you no longer believe?

❤️ Sandy

Well my precious daughter here is what I believe at 79 years of age. I’m closer to death than to life. My body is slowing down, but I’m not giving up without a fight. I’m saying so long to so much. People, places, activities, expectations. I’m both afraid, and at peace with myself. The future is no longer promised, it is a gift. I often feel like I am invisible to others, unloved, and under appreciated. I may be 79, yet inside I still have the heart and soul of a young man. I am happy and pleased that I have reached this point in life. So many others are not afforded this opportunity. I’m tired of drama. I only seek peace and quiet and understanding. When my time comes I plan to accept it with grace and dignity. I’m not afraid of death. Death is but the final step in life. Until then I will continue to follow the Golden Rule. I will treat others with respect, empathy, and kindness. Much like I expect to be treated. Yes I am an old man now, but age begets wisdom. I soon will no longer be judged or scrutinized by the living. I’ll leave the final judgment in the hands of the Lord, our Savior. It seems that a common human flaw is to focus intently on the faults of others, completely ignoring one’s own. Self reflection will turn your life in the proper direction. Every day we have the power to change not only our lives for the better, but also the lives of others. You my dear are a perfect example others may wish to follow.

I no longer believe I have to stay where my peace is continually disturbed. Sometimes love looks like compassion. Sometimes love looks like boundaries. Learning the difference has been one of the greatest gifts of getting older.
