For our final digital cover of the month, weโre stepping into the world of #Carrie with Alison Thornton (@ali.g.thornton), who takes on the role of Chris Hargensen in Mike Flanaganโs series adaptation of Stephen Kingโs iconic debut novel.
Reimagining a character previously portrayed by Nancy Allen in the beloved 1976 film, Alison brings a fresh perspective to one of Carrie Whiteโs most notorious bullies. With the new adaptation expanding the story across eight episodes, Thornton explores the troubled teenager behind Chrisโs cruelty, finding the humanity in a character audiences love to hate.
โSo much of what Chris does comes from her home life and her lack of emotional support, and a lot of the conversations with Mike [Flanagan] were just about humanizing her and making sure that she doesnโt just come from a place of cruelty for the sake of cruelty. A lot of her bullying Carrie has nothing to do with Carrie. It all has to do with Chris and what sheโs going through, and her lack of healthy coping mechanisms.โ
