Once upon a time, two girls left arts class and walked home separate ways because they’d argued about which bus stop to take. We went to the same school but ran in different circles until a few years later, when we found each other in a local chat for movie fans. And after that we never really separated: universities, different parts of the city. Then in 2021 continents divided us — but not our friendship. I’m glad to live in an era where the distance feels a little smaller, thanks to all the ways we can stay in touch. But it’s still so precious to get to hug each other once in a long while.
