~TMB Day 8~

And then there were 3, with 3 days left. We said goodbye to my sister and brother in law. Loved having them, and their presence is definitely missed on this day.

Today felt more like a “travel” day. Where we just clocked miles and miles. I think there was a few people on the trail (myself included) that were under the impression that today would be a little easier of a hike. Severely mistaken 💀. 11 miles walked but 2 were bonus miles that we did in our own. The climb up the mountain today was short sided with all the trees blocking our views. We had shade but we had even more buggies all over our face. The climb was rather heavy on the knees and the descend was about 4,400 ft. So the knees felt that. No switchbacks. Just heavy gradients. And the terrain was rocky, and slippery at times. Once we got to the top and cleared the trees is when we were rewarded with a grand view. We had lunch from there and then made our way back down into the tree line and into town. Less on the views today, more on the miles. If you’re looking at the map, we’ve officially made it back on the left side of it, and we’re in the home stretch. We’ve also started to say goodbye to people we’ve kept running into on the trail. It’s getting close!
