Sourdough Starter Feeding Ratios + How They Work for Baking You NEVER need to keep a massive jar of starter on your counter to feed and maintain everyday. You can scale any feeding ratio UP when you need more starter for baking and DOWN when you’re not. I used a 1:10:10 feeding ratio here but this was just an example. 📌 1:10:10 FEEDING RATIO * 45g starter * 450g water * 450g flour * Total When Peaked = 945g starter! 📌 IMPORTANT: ⏳ Over time, your feeding ratios can impact the balance of yeast and bacteria in your starter. 🌾 Higher feeding ratios = more “food” for your starter = slower peak 🌾 Lower feeding ratios = less “food” for your starter = faster peak 🌡️ Temperature and starter strength matter. My 1:10:10 feeding took about 12 hours to peak…but yours may take more or less time depending on your environment. #sourdough #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbread #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughtips
