Part 1 of a spontaneous trip to Poland.
Went to visit Auschwitz, having read and seen movies about what has happened there. Being stood there really put in to perspective the sheer size and scale of what actually happened. Seeing it first hand was a surreal experience but also had such an eerie feeling walking around the grounds.
The photos above were of Auschwitz I which was the original camp created in 1940 from former polish army barracks. This was “the work camp” and served as the main Headquarters for the entire Auschwitz Camp System where prisoners were subjected to forced labour before being executed.

How was it? Heard that Auschwitz is quite an emotional experience from a few people and it’s worth the visit
