Decker, I can’t believe you’re one year old today.

I remember everything like it just happened. I remember the conversations your mom and I had about you—what you were going to look like and what kind of parents we were going to be.

I remember watching your mom, @jayannadedominicis, be an absolute rockstar as she labored with you for 18 hours.

I remember realizing just how much I still don’t like hospitals.

And I remember your mom looking at me near the end of labor and saying, “Aaron, I just want to love him on this side of Heaven.”

Decker, your birthday is just a small reminder of what a gift you are to our little family. I’m honored to be your dad, and I love you more than you’ll ever know.
