First chemo session ✈️ Well, we’re finally off the ground with chemotherapy. After months of delays, diversions and trying to get myself into the right place to start treatment, I’ve finally completed my first session. It’s a milestone I’ve been waiting for, although the circumstances surrounding it are far from ideal. As many of you know, I completed all 33 sessions of radiotherapy earlier in the summer. Unfortunately, the results have been pretty devastating. The treatment has had minimal impact on the tumour, and the latest MRI has actually highlighted new, alarming areas of concern. It’s now lead to be having to be scanned every 6 weeks. That’s a difficult reality to face, particularly after putting so much into getting through radiotherapy. It also makes starting chemotherapy feel that much more urgent, as I look for something that might make a difference where radiotherapy hasn’t. The immediate challenge, though, is the fatigue. I’m absolutely shattered. This isn’t just being a bit tired or needing an early night; it’s a level of exhaustion that makes even the simplest things feel like hard work. After 20 years in aviation, being alert, focused and ready for anything has been second nature. Having to slow down this much, and accept that my body simply hasn’t got the energy it used to, is a difficult adjustment. I’m trying to be realistic about what lies ahead. There are no guarantees that chemotherapy will work, and with the latest scan results, I’m under no illusion about the seriousness of the situation. But it’s another treatment option, and I have to give it a chance. For now, it’s about taking things one day at a time, listening to my body and resting when I need to. One session down. A long way still to go. ✈️ Thank you to everyone who continues to check in, send messages and support me through this. If I’m quiet or slow to reply, it’s not that I don’t appreciate it. Sometimes I’m simply too exhausted to do much at all. ❤️

📌Save For:Dietitian’s Three Fall Harvest Bowls With California Grapes (ad) Recipes: like post & comment ‘Recipe’ 🥙Fall bowls are one of my favourite ways to turn seasonal produce into a meal that’s actually satisfying. And the ingredient I’m adding to all three? California grapes! @grapesfromca 🍇California grapes bring that juicy pop of sweetness that works so well with savoury fall flavours — while also providing hydration and beneficial plant compounds, including polyphenols. Here are 3 harvest bowls to put on repeat this fall: 🍇California Grape and Sweet Potato Bowl Sweet potato, edamame, crispy chickpeas, grains, pepitas + California grapes with a creamy grape-inspired dressing. 🍇Warm Balsamic California Grape and Lentil Bowl Warm roasted California grapes, lentils, hearty grains, roasted squash + kale for the ultimate sweet-and-savoury combination. 🍇California Grape & Brussels Sprout Bowl Brussels sprouts/greens, crispy chickpeas, red onion, pepitas + plenty of fresh California grapes. Don’t overlook fruit in savoury meals! Grapes add natural sweetness and texture that can make plant-forward bowls much more exciting — especially when paired with hearty grains, legumes, veggies and seeds. 📌Save this for your next fall meal prep Which bowl would you try first: 1, 2 or 3? #dietitian #mealprep #harvestbowl #easymealprep #saladbowl
