Sorority Life…
The number of people asking me if the sorority scenes in my novel are based on a true story is both flattering and concerning….. 😉

The answer is no. I made it all up.
The trauma? Fiction.
The drama? Fiction.
The suspiciously specific details? Also fiction.

Turns out, “convincing” is both the goal and the source of all my problems as an author! 😂

No, they are not based on any personal experiences from anyone that I know…

I’m just a writer with an overactive imagination and a dangerous commitment to research!

Fiction is weird like that. 🫣😉

That’s the magic of fiction tho…making you believe in lives I’ve never lived.

If you believed it, then I did my job.

That’s what I love most about writing: turning imagination into something that feels unmistakably real. Every page is a reminder that empathy can take us places our own lives never will. The details may be fictional, but my love for telling stories that feel real never is.

🚨🚨WARNING!!! GRAPHIC CONTENT!!! 🚨🚨

Bicep tears in the deadlift.

You’ll usually see this happen with the underhand in a mixed grip.
And it’s why a lot of people say mixed grip is dangerous.

It’s not.

It’s only dangerous if you don’t understand what you’re doing.

This happens when people try to use their biceps in the lift.

And it’s very common in people with big, strong biceps.

Why?

Because they’ve trained them to be strong, and they use them for everything.
Every time they pick something up, they pull with their arms.

So they apply the same idea to the deadlift.

That’s the mistake.

The deadlift is a posterior chain movement.
Glutes, hamstrings, spinal erectors.

Your biceps should not be contributing.

But if you try to “pull” the bar with your arms, especially with a mixed grip, the elbow starts to bend.
Now the biceps are under load they can’t handle.

That’s when it tears.

A deadlifting cue that I learned came from @benni_magnusson_official , who holds the heaviest deadlift in history with bare hands and a mixed grip at 1,015 pounds.

Before he lifts, he maximally contracts his triceps to lock the elbows.

This is known as reciprocal inhibition.
When you contract one muscle, the opposing muscle relaxes.

In this case, contracting the triceps helps switch off the biceps.

Try this next time you deadlift.

And if your elbows are bending when you pull, you’re using the wrong muscles.

Exodia 2nd ascent ✅

I definitely felt it was sort of expected that I would go to check out this @elias_iagnemma’s masterpiece 👌 Nevertheless, I was very psyched. Elias came there to show me the boulder in September, explained all the beta to me, and I was even more psyched to get it done. Elias was incredibly nice and helpful; we made a really cool interview with him for the upcoming video about Exodia ✊ But I got a very nasty cold, then I got more duties to do on my agenda, and as soon as I felt fit to return 🇮🇹, it seemed that I had only two days left and the season might be over because of upcoming rain 😅 But I kept it together and executed very well in some of the most memorable moments of my career ☝️

I took 4 days in total, doing the very same sequence as @elias_iagnemma, changing the way I grab some of the holds (more crimping, less pinching) 🤌

It’s very much my style 👌 It’s not too much about kneebars (they are relatively simple); it is much more about heelhooking, tension and delicate body positioning. The second part is even more my style and I can reach one hold from one toehook without cutloose ☝️

My shape for this kind of boulder is pretty good, possibly my best ever? 🤔

I totally respect Elias for proposing 9A+, having his track record, having tried some other 9A boulders and being close, and still trying Exodia for 212 days (!!!), I would have done the same 👏 More about this in an upcoming YouTube video 👊

I think the boulder is 9A (V17) ☝️ I don’t comment on which part of the 9A range it is. To me, personally, it felt harder than Soudain Seul, and similar compared to Alphane or Mount Doom. But Exodia is possibly much more my style, and I will not be surprised if people find this harder than Alphane or Mount Doom 😉
