What you’ll need:
1 stick butter
6 onions
6 cups nice beef stock
5 sprigs thyme
Bay leaf
1/2 c Sherry
Chopped parsley
Sherry vinegar to taste
Salt to taste

Croutons
Shredded gruyere

I’m actually going to emphasize again how much a nice beef stock makes this soup way more enjoyable. When I think of French onion soup I think beef, onion, and wine. That’s like the holy trinity for me.

TO BEGIN!
Slice a whole buncha onions. Add your butter to a pot and once it starts foaming, add the onions with a pinch of salt. Cover and steam for 5 minutes or so. The onions will shrink and break down a bit. Remove the lid and cook, stirring often. And I won’t lie this takes time but it’s like the only real cooking in this recipe so you got this. This could take close to an hour at medium low- to low heat. Anyone who says it takes less is lying!

Once your onions are a deep golden, deglaze with the wine. Once the wine is nearly dry, add the thyme, bay leaf, and beef stock. Bring to a gentle simmer and let it all marry together for around 30 minutes. Adjust your salt and acid with sherry vinegar to taste.

Stir in fresh chopped parsley, top with croutons, and gruyere. Then pop under the broiler for 5 minutes or until the cheese is nice and melty.

I’m SUCH a massive fan of this franchise, so the opportunity to recreate something like this was so special. A huge thank you to the entire team that helped me get ready, and especially @mollyddickson who’s been helping me bring all my fangirl dreams to life for this press tour for months now hahah. I wanted to pay homage to Katniss, and this dress is so iconic, although the meaning of the look is not lost on me

What makes Katniss’s wedding dress so powerful to me is that it begins as a costume meant to turn her into a spectacle but she and Cinna turn it into something so powerful. It made me think of Maysilee’s refusal to let the Capitol strip away her humanity, “If you let them treat you like an animal, they will”. One of the things I love most about the hunger games is the characters determination to hold onto who they are even when others are trying to define them. It’s truly incredible just how much deep meaning and storytelling is told through these costumes alone, it was such an incredible night getting to celebrate the wardrobe of these films. I’m still pinching myself🥹
