Hearing a WHOOSHING sound that matches your heartbeat? That’s a detail I pay attention to as a neurologist. 🧠👂 It’s called pulsatile tinnitus, and when it happens alongside headaches, one condition we consider is idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) which includes increased pressure around the brain. Other clues can include: ▪️ Vision dimming or briefly “blacking out” ▪️ Blurry or double vision ▪️ Swelling of the optic nerves (papilledema) found on an eye exam Why does it matter? Untreated IIH can damage your vision… and the headaches can be painful. Don’t leave this detail out of your headache appointment. 🤍 #migraine #migrainerelief #headache
