I miss you. The best years of my childhood I spent with you; the years that seemed like they would last forever, when the maple tree in the backyard was the highest in the neighborhood and the jersey shore was the best place in the world. You filled my childhood with music and fairytales, hammocks, kites, pranks and laughter. I will always be grateful for how you loved me equally as a goofy kid, an angry teenager and a young adult.
Those were the Sunday dinners and the summer nights that seemed endless, and you were the man that seemed immovable.
The time we spent together shaped me in ways I can’t articulate, but I know the world is smaller without you in it, and I know that (for better or worse) I am who I am because of you.
Thank you for everything, and screw you for making me fly on a holiday weekend.
