This accident raises an important question...

How much can an overweight airplane and the wrong flap setting affect takeoff performance?

In this accident analysis, we break down the decisions leading up to the crash and discuss the lessons every pilot can take away, including one that's often overlooked... having an abort point before every takeoff.

It was airborne. I wouldn’t say it was “flying”

Energy management failure. Clearly on the back side of the curve. What are they teaching the students? Overweight by itself isn't the story. CG ok? Trim setting? Takeoff or go-around? Looks to me like a botched go-around from the short clip.

Adequate airspeed at all times is also necessary when carrying a heavy load.

@adrianflysz For sure! In light GA aircrafts you definitely feel the extra weight of a single person.
