NIGHTWALKER - Look 2

This collection is developed from a personal experience of not being able to get home safely at night. This experience led to research into why women are often taught to adapt their behaviour, routes, and appearance in order to avoid danger with the responsibility of preventing violence being placed on women themselves.
In response the nightwalker is an opposing sound to the believe that women should dress a certain way in order to feel safe. A persona who moves through the night with awareness, but without adapting herself to it.
She has dominance over the night.
The collection explores taking up space both visually and through sound with moving embellishments making noise when the wearer walks, announcing the nightwalkers presence.
Ultimately, this collection questions why women are expected to adapt, hide, and make themselves smaller in order to feel safe.
