Horses are having a moment. Horse people are not.
It’s the Year of the Horse, and the animal is everywhere: Hermès, Ralph Lauren, influencers at Wellington, a streetwear brand on Travis Kelce’s head. The image of the sport has never been healthier.
But it has never felt harder to actually belong in it. The cost keeps climbing, the people who sustain the sport are aging out or getting priced out, and it cuts across every discipline: racing, Western, sport horse, polo.

I grew up with 30-35 horses for the better half of 20 years, mom taught dressage, this cultural push is pretty funny, most people including my family members made fun if her and us.
