We had a fun conversation with Minati Kujur, an elder from the Kurukh community.

Curiously, we asked her -
‘दादी ई के का ले बनात हिस?’

(Dadi, why are you taking so much efforts to make this)

She smiled,

and said,

‘ई से अंगना का झाड़ू करेगा, बनाएगा अंगना वाला झाड़ू’

Then she showed us how she makes the broom

‘ई गो नारियल कर सुखअल् पाताई हेके, मोई ई के निकात हो झाड़ू बनाईक ले।

कितना बेर बाजार से किन्बे, एहे लेल तो मिलत हे।’

(These are dried coconut leaves. I am making broomstick out of it.

How many times will you go to the market, when you get what you need right here in the village!)
