Every family seems to have one person who proudly says, “We’re not getting a cat.” Most of the time, it’s Dad. He insists the cat isn’t allowed on the furniture, says he doesn’t want the responsibility, and claims he’ll have nothing to do with it. Everyone hears the speech… but somehow, the cat ends up coming home anyway.

Fast forward a few months, and Dad is the cat’s favorite human. He’s the one secretly buying the expensive treats, building little cardboard forts, and making sure the food bowl is never empty. If anyone asks, he’ll still say, “It’s not my cat,” even as the cat is curled up asleep on his lap.

The funniest part is watching the rules slowly disappear. “The cat isn’t sleeping in my bed,” turns into, “Don’t wake him up—he’s comfortable.” “No people food,” becomes tiny bites of chicken magically appearing under the table. Before long, Dad is taking pictures of the cat, talking to it like an old friend, and worrying if it’s been asleep for too long.

Everyone knows how the story ends. The dad who didn’t want a cat becomes the person most obsessed with it. He’ll deny it every chance he gets, but his camera roll is full of cat photos, he knows exactly what every meow means, and he somehow becomes the first person the cat looks for every morning. Charles Leclerc finished fastest in Free Practice 1 ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver heading Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and team mate Lewis Hamilton.
The Monegasque driver set a 1m 19.075s, leaving him half a second clear of Verstappen, before suffering an issue in the final 10 minutes which brought his Ferrari to a stop in the pit lane entry.

Lewis Hamilton ended Friday’s running for the Hungarian Grand Prix on top, edging out his Ferrari team mate Charles Leclerc and McLaren’s Lando Norris in Free Practice 2.
Ferrari showed that they’re currently the team to beat at the Hungaroring
- Leclerc shot back to the top spot, posting a 1m 18.877s, and Hamilton slotted in just 0.037s behind.
But the Briton wasn’t done yet as he cut his time down even more, opening up an advantage of more than a tenth over his team mate. With the focus then switching to long runs, his effort of 1m 18.729s remained the best of the day and he ended FP2 ahead of Leclerc and Norris.
