Sharing stories and learning the history that led our families to where we are now. Our solidarity work keeps our Salvadorian memory alive. Shedding a tear while learning what goes on beyond coverage. Learning from and leaning on one another.
This poem birthed from the heart and memory of my parents who crossed due to the Civil War. Brief stories they share, never prying as it takes them somewhere else, yet spaces such as these offer a healing experience for us who have endured. Although, the memory of children playing under a full moon with no electricity, climbing trees barefoot, and throwing centipedes at our cousins are a fraction of the memories we treasure. Our hearts grow beyond the trauma, learning a safer comfort.
I miss my family, and those who are still missing, and those who have passed. You are with me forever. I love you forever. The backbone of this practice, so please never stop creating. KEEP LOOKING. KEEP LOOKING!!!
Love Life,
KITTY
