According to @wfaa, a Texas egg producer has voluntarily recalled nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs after they were found to have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis, per the FDA.

The recall affects white shell and brown cage-free eggs produced by Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. between June 6 and July 3. The eggs were sold under several brands, including Kroger, Simple Truth Cage Free, Brookshire’s, Country Morning, and Sunups, at stores across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Mississippi.

The company says it discovered the issue during routine environmental testing and has stopped distributing fresh eggs from the affected farms in Texas. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. In addition, the affected cartons have plant codes P-1950 or 0840962, and a Julian Date between 157 and 184 is printed on the side. Consumers are urged not to eat the eggs and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
