* Happy 40th Birthday Lindsey! I hope you take time today to look back on the past with pride but also take time to dream with excitement the path that lies before you. Cheers to celebrating you today, tomorrow, and always! Love you always🎂😘!

Since her first appearance behind the podium this week, White House press secretary Katie Zacharia’s past has become murkier by the day.

A WIRED review of deleted social media and professional networking profiles has helped clear up at least one mystery. Zacharia’s online resume shows a gap extending from 2013 to late 2023. For part of that time, she worked as an affiliate of Beachbody, a fitness company that ran a multilevel marketing operation she describes to WIRED as “sort of a pyramid scheme.”

Zacharia says she was an affiliate marketer for Beachbody, following her 2013 return from China. She recalls being brought in by a friend and promoting its Shakeology product, which is promoted as a “superfood nutrition shake.” She stopped using and promoting the product, she says, because of its vitamin A content, which she didn’t feel was good for her while pregnant.

Beachbody, now known as BODi, confirmed in a statement that Zacharia was among its 300,000 “independent Team Beachbody distributors” in 2013.

Perhaps unsurprisingly for a company that relied on a multilevel marketing scheme for decades, the company has run into a number of legal issues over the years. It's been accused of falsely advertising a revolutionary anti-aging treatment (the suit was voluntarily dismissed), and making false or misleading income promises to contractors.

In 2017, Beachbody, without admitting any wrongdoing, settled a $3.6 million consumer protection lawsuit with the city attorney in Santa Monica, California. Prosecutors alleged that Beachbody made health-related claims about its products. They also claimed in filings that Beachbody had been automatically charging customers credit cards for renewals of their products without their consent. As part of its settlement, Beachbody was ordered to pay $1 million to nonprofits that promote health and nutrition.

And in 2023, Beachbody was hit with a class action lawsuit accusing it of scamming its coaches.

Winning 😆💪🏼

Comment SHOPPING LIST for everything I used

Here’s exactly how we did it! Save this for when you’re ready to tackle your own 👇🏼

1. Order everything on the shopping list 🛒
Comment SHOPPING LIST and I’ll send you everything you need to recreate these!

2. Fit your mid-rail pole
Use your bracket to mark your fixing points, then drill small pilot holes into the wood. Screw your brackets into place on the left and right.

3. Attach your pole
Unscrew the clasp from one side of your pole so you only have one clasp attached to the bracket. Use a laser level to make sure everything is straight, or a manual spirit level if you don’t have one.

4. Choose your curtains carefully!
I bought mine from Dunelm, but my mum said they were an absolute B-I-T-C-H to work with because the fabric is so delicate 😂 Which is exactly why I love them! If you haven’t got a professional on the job, you might want to opt for a slightly easier fabric.

5. Work out your curtain measurements
The specific curtains I chose only came in one width, so I used ChatGPT to calculate the ratios needed for my different window sizes. You can watch the video back and screenshot the prompt I used to work it out!

6. Fit your bottom rail
Once the top rail is in place, fit your bottom rail so you can work out exactly how long each curtain needs to be, including the drop and hem. This is why it helps to get your rails fitted before finalising your curtain measurements.

7. Cut your poles to size
You’ll need a hacksaw to cut your poles to the correct width. The shop I bought mine from actually offers to cut them to size, but I was too scared to get them to do it, so I tackled it myself at home. Honestly, it was really easy!

8. Thread and hang your curtains
Once your curtains arrive, thread the poles through the top and bottom hems, then attach the rails to your brackets on the window.

And Bob’s your uncle, Fanny’s your aunt! 🤍 You’ve got yourself the prettiest cafe curtains.
