Four weeks after the last time I saw you, I received the call that changed everything. The news that you were gone.
The night before, I waited for your call. Something in my spirit had already stirred, and I felt this deep need to speak with you. But you were on another call, and you told me you would call me back.
And you always did.
You were a man of your word. Someone I could trust. Someone I could rely on.
But that night, your call never came. The next morning, I kept looking at my phone, expecting your message; the one where you would explain why you couldn’t call, as you always did.
But nothing came.
Nothing.
And then, something inside me shifted. My whole being felt unsettled. It was as if my centre was collapsing, as if my spirit already knew something my mind could not understand.
I felt it. I knew something was not right.
I sent you a message asking if you were okay, asking if everything was alright.
And from what I later came to know, at that very moment, you were taking your final breath.
I was reaching out to you, hoping for an answer, while you were leaving this world.
Hours later, I received a call with no words that could change what had happened.
You were gone.
There is no way to turn back the hands of time. No way to rewrite that night. No way to have one more conversation, one more laugh, one more moment, one more chance to hear your voice.
I find myself looking back at all the days when we didn’t speak, for whatever reason, wishing I had called. Wishing I had reached out. Wishing I had heard your voice just one more time.
But I hold on to the love, the memories, and everything we shared.
Three years have passed, and I still miss you deeply, King.
You may have left this world, but the imprint you left on my heart remains forever.
