It’s been a whole lot.
Sundays and Mondays are still the hardest for me. Those two days replay in my mind over and over again. Sunday was the day we rushed my dad to the hospital, and Monday morning was the day I got the call that changed my life forever.
Every Monday, I still wake up and, for a split second, it feels like I’m back in that moment. Sometimes I even jump out of bed before reality hits me all over again that my papa is gone.
Since May 4th, life hasn’t been the same.
People always say, “You never truly understand until it happens to you.” I used to comfort people who had lost someone they loved, but I never really knew the weight they were carrying. Now I do. The pain is so heavy. I still cry, and I honestly don’t know when I’ll stop.
My papa wasn’t just my father he was my favorite person. I would give anything just to hear his voice one more time, to hear him call my name, or to have one more conversation with him.
I miss him every single day.
This month is especially emotional because July was his favorite month. It’s also his birth month. Instead of celebrating with him here, I’ll be looking up at the sky, smiling through my tears, and saying, “my Sky Daddy.”
I hope you’re celebrating in heaven. I hope you’re resting peacefully.
I’ll love you forever.
I’ll miss you forever.
