‼️If you have a daughter who seems “fine” at school but completely falls apart at home… read this to the end. 🤯
At age 5, I started noticing little things that didn’t quite add up.
At first they seemed random.
Then suddenly… it all connected.
Here were some of the BIG signs for us:
✨ Talking nonstop from the second she woke up until bedtime
✨ Could never look at the camera
✨ Easily overwhelmed & mentally exhausted
✨ Perfectionism + extremely hard on herself
✨ BIG rejection sensitivity
✨ Very bossy during play / needed things her way
✨ Constant sensory seeking (always chewing or putting things in her mouth)
✨ Getting distracted halfway through getting dressed
✨ “Messy” room… but somehow knew where EVERYTHING was
✨ Saying things were “boring” unless they gave instant dopamine
✨ Hates waiting, losing, or taking turns
✨ Missing social cues
✨ Constantly seeking reassurance, validation & adult attention
👇 But here’s the WILD part 👇
At home? She was textbook ADHD.
At school? She masked SO well that nobody saw it.
When I brought it up in preschool, I was told “She seems fine, it’s just the age.”
Years later, she received a PROVISIONAL diagnosis of ADHD Combined Type.
The psychologist explained that ADHD in girls is often missed because they learn to mask early — especially at school. But as more demands and expectations are added, the struggles become more obvious.
And honestly?
This explained MY whole childhood too. 🥺 I wasn’t diagnosed until 36!
