Maandamano hayajaja kutoka Twitter. Yamekuja kutoka kwenye haya:

10. Ukosefu wa ajira. Vijana wamejaa mtaani, digrii mifukoni, lakini kazi hakuna.

Sasa hapo wanaharakati wanahusikaje?

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva delivered a fiery response after right-wing presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro mocked his missing finger during their final presidential debate.

Lula, a former metalworker who lost his finger in an industrial accident at just 17, turned the insult into a confrontation over class, privilege, and the realities of Brazil’s working class.

“If there’s anyone who knows what the world of work is like, it’s me,” Lula stated, making sure to highlight how he was forced to work night shifts as a minor to have enough money to simply eat.

He accused Bolsonaro, the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, of never working an honest day in his life, saying his first job was a sham position arranged by his father.

“I won’t allow a militiaman to call me nine-fingered,” Lula stated, demanding an apology.

The exchange highlights the contrast between Lula’s working-class background and the Bolsonaro family’s political dynasty, as well as the mechanisms that drove each campaign.

Lula went even further, applying the law to the Brazilian working class as a whole, arguing that millions of Brazilian workers suffer workplace injuries because of dangerous conditions and employer negligence. Lula effectively and efficiently turned Bolsonaro’s personal attack into a broader indictment of class inequality.

After Lula repeatedly demanded an apology, Flávio backed down and apologised.
