Jay-Z's "Extra Innings" show at Yankee Stadium lasted longer than most extra-inning games — thanks to a long delay over a security issue.

The star-studded final night celebrating the Brooklyn music mogul's career was set to start at 8 p.m. But large groups of people without tickets reportedly swarmed the gates and tried rush past security more than once, prompting the NYPD to lockdown the stadium.

No one entered or exited for hours and the stage stayed empty. Jay-Z finally took the stage after midnight, when he issued an apology to the fans for the lengthy wait.

As they waited, concertgoers were left saying "Please Don't Stop the Music" from starting — and were ultimately rewarded when Rihanna made a surprise performance with Jay-Z during the early-morning performance.

I was there. The security was way under-staffed, very unorganized and didn't tell anyone where to line up it was not properly handled thousands of people not even 20 security and nypd was more worried about surrounding areas

Any follow up to this story? Any consequences for the degenerates who breached the gates? What’s being done for the affected ticket holders who were unable to attend the show after a 4+ hour delay? Major lack of accountability on the part of the event organizers and the venue.

Don't blame the crowd. This is a false and inflammatory narrative. The real reason for the delay was the complete failure of preparation by @yankeestadium They completely lacked intake staff, line organization, and had ZERO communication over the 5 hours everyone was waiting. My wife and I were some of the last people waiting outside to get in at Gate 4. Gate 8 was the first to let people in, then Gates 2/6. Closed Gate 4 at 830pm with massive crowds. 4.5 hours later they opened our gate at 11:50pm. Thousands there, but only letting people in 1 by 1. We heard J start playing at 12:15am. We didn't get past security until 1:03 AM! Missed a third of the show, and standing the whole time. Even prior to the people rushing at 8pm, there were tens of thousands of people waiting before the gates opened at 6:30pm with little to no staff helping to guide people and organize intake. THAT is what lead to a rush. Proper management and a rush would have never happened. @nycmayor needs to investigate this situation because it could have seriously been fatal, like a Travis Scott situation. The crowd needs to be given the MOST credit for being patient and mostly calm for the entire 4.5 hours AFTER this happened.

I didn’t go to this concert but I believe the venue should refund the money to everyone who waited💰 Sorry doesn’t make up for the inconvenience and the travel home. You’re a billionaire. Your fans are not!
