Drop-in swimming is available at all of our pools, and it's very rare that we need to turn anyone away.
Looking to plan ahead and reduce wait times? We recommend reserving your swim session up to three days in advance. Even when reservations are full, we save space for drop-ins and accommodate additional drop-ins when reserved spots go unused.
Timed sessions allow more people to enjoy the pool safely, in line with lifeguard staffing and capacity limits. We look forward to welcoming you to our pools for a refreshing dip this summer! 🌊

Ever tell your kids you’re going somewhere, pack all the snacks, slather on the sunscreen, fight for parking, and arrive... only to hope you can actually get in? Yeah, that’s a parenting hard pass. For nearly a century Kits pool has operated as a first come, first served, stay as long as you like taxpayer built and funded community amenity. No reservations. No ludicrously low attendance limits. No 30min closures for "cleaning" that require patrons to leave the premises. @vanparkboard is gatekeeping a key spot of summertime outdoors fun and exercise for dozens upon dozens of people each and every day. Even if the park board reverses this ridiculous, COVID-like, no sense policy tomorrow, voters will remember. You were voted into power by people who believed you'd do your jobs while acting in good faith on behalf of your constituents. This foolishness is quite the opposite: bad faith. @vanparkboard do you have a new maintenance company you brought on this year? can you explain why the pool is significantly warmer in temperature this year compared to previous years, and why the water seems to be the exact same temperature whether it is 20C or 30C out? It is absolutely suffocating to swim long distance in an overheated pool in the summer, leading to migraines, shortness of breath and dizziness. This has NEVER happened before in the past 15 years, you need to either bring back the old maintenance person or hire a new company because this is absolutely out of control and they clearly are not listening to any feedback. The water is warm upon entry, can you imagine exerting energy is that for 137m multiple times?

The pool should be first come first serve. It worked for years. If you come and there’s a line up, you wait or you leave. The pool had a when capacity. When it was full it was full. It’s not a restaurant. Your goal $$ seems to be to get people in for a limited time, get them out, then sell their spots to someone else. You also resell spots when reservations don’t show up so you’re kinda double dipping. Greed and bureaucracy destroys spontaneity . #FREEKITSPOOL

It’s absolutely crazy what is going on at the pools - specifically Kits Pool . You need to wake up and go back to how it always was and how it worked for all the community id you don’t the Parks Board will a thing if the past
