A boy, a lifeboat, and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, adrift together on an ocean that looks like the inside of God's imagination. But the film's true power detonates in its final minutes, when an older Pi, played by Irrfan Khan, offers insurance investigators a second version of his survival, stripped of animals and mercy, and asks the question that has haunted viewers ever since: which story do you prefer? The answer says nothing about the ocean and everything about faith itself.

What makes it a must-see is the double ending, an adventure for the eyes that becomes a mirror for the soul, different for every person who watches.
