Leighton folded the heat of summer into the sleeping figure of *Flaming June*. 🔥☀️ Painted in 1895, the work shows a woman curled into an almost perfect circle, wrapped in layers of translucent orange fabric. Behind her, the calm Mediterranean appears timeless, while a branch of poisonous oleander adds a quiet note of danger. Leighton developed the difficult pose through numerous preparatory drawings, studying the body, drapery and composition before beginning the final canvas. The identity of the model remains uncertain, although she may have been Dorothy Dene, one of his favorite models. Rather than illustrating a specific story, Leighton followed the Aesthetic ideal of “art for art’s sake,” using color, form and sensual beauty to create a dreamlike image of sleep and summer heat. This is an AI-imagined recreation of a moment that was never filmed. 🎬✨ *Flaming June* Frederic Leighton, 1895 Oil on canvas 🖼️ (Museo de Arte de Ponce, Puerto Rico) \#TheUnseenStudio #FredericLeighton #FlamingJune #VictorianArt #ArtReimagined
