I felt really inspired this FW season by looks with silk and draping contrasting against stiff tailoring, wide belts, and scarves synched at the waist, pointy shoes and tassel necklaces and am looking forward to incorporating these into my wardrobe this season. There’s something really cool about how feminine and masculine work in tandem with these looks and how something really delicate can also feel quite powerful. I also wanted to make note that Victorian styles are derived from south East/East Asian and middle eastern influences through British imperialism and colonialism. The cummerbund, for example, was adopted by the British army in colonial India. Members of the Indian army wore Kamarbands which loosely translates to “waist-band”. American singer Mary Millben has alleged that US-based donors opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi are funding Abhijeet Dipke and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), raising questions about foreign involvement in India's political landscape. In her statement, Millben claimed that certain American donors support individuals who challenge conservative leaders internationally. She urged Indian youth to organise peacefully and speak out against what she described as the CJP's “disruptive spirit.” Dipke, meanwhile, criticised Millben's remarks and questioned American involvement in India's internal political affairs. However, the allegations regarding foreign funding have not been independently established by the information currently available. The claims have brought renewed attention to the debate over political activism, foreign influence and democratic accountability in India. #MaryMillben #AbhijeetDipke #IndianPolitics #NarendraModi
