Just a woman quietly managing her own expectations before they could disappoint her.

If he opened the door—fine.
If he didn’t—I already handled it.

Because expecting nothing meant losing nothing.

That’s not strength. That’s armor.

But then something started shifting.

He noticed when I got quiet.

Not annoyed by it. Not ignoring it.

Actually stopping to ask where my head was at.

For a woman who talks as much as I do—silence means something. And the fact that HE knew that without me explaining it?

That did something to me I wasn’t prepared for.

And the way he corrects me.

Not loud. Not aggressive. Not to embarrass me.

Gentle. Soft. Direct.

He used to be afraid to hurt my feelings. But I needed him to tell me the truth more than I needed him to protect me from it.

And he figured that out.

Healing doesn’t always look like a breakthrough moment.

Sometimes it looks like:

• Slowly putting your armor down
• Letting someone notice your silence
• Trusting that honesty delivered with love won’t destroy you

I’m still learning to leave the door for him. 😂
