No feeling beats that humid thick air after landing in Trini 🇹🇹. It could slap me any day! #fypシ❤️💞❤️ #trinidad #az #couplegoals by @mrz.britt

Just a woman quietly managing her own expectations before they could disappoint her.

If he opened the door—fine.
If he didn’t—I already handled it.

Because expecting nothing meant losing nothing.

That’s not strength. That’s armor.

But then something started shifting.

He noticed when I got quiet.

Not annoyed by it. Not ignoring it.

Actually stopping to ask where my head was at.

For a woman who talks as much as I do—silence means something. And the fact that HE knew that without me explaining it?

That did something to me I wasn’t prepared for.

And the way he corrects me.

Not loud. Not aggressive. Not to embarrass me.

Gentle. Soft. Direct.

He used to be afraid to hurt my feelings. But I needed him to tell me the truth more than I needed him to protect me from it.

And he figured that out.

Healing doesn’t always look like a breakthrough moment.

Sometimes it looks like:

• Slowly putting your armor down
• Letting someone notice your silence
• Trusting that honesty delivered with love won’t destroy you

I’m still learning to leave the door for him. 😂

But I’m getting there. 💙

Save this for the version of you still waiting for safe love 💕

I never once controlled my impulses!
.
.
.

Almost forgot how hilarious I use to be. They tried to tell me my outfit was a bit shakey.

I see NOW 👀

What are some random things you did in your youth with no fear ?

Do you see the style I was aiming for ? 😭

My stomach has a mind of its own here. And it took my husband seeing it firsthand to understand why. 😂

Back home 🇹🇹? Not once bloated. Not once uncomfortable. Not one stomach issue.

Because the food was just… food

No manipulation No artificial anything
Just whatever came from the ground that day.

Kareem grew up eating American produce his whole life. So when he tasted fruit and vegetables back home for the first time—

He went quiet. 😂

Because there’s nothing to say when a mango actually smells like a 🥭

When a tomato has texture AND flavor

Then they manipulate the flavor so much your taste buds don’t even know what they’re responding to anymore

My body knows the difference even when my mind tries to adjust

And I will say this clearly:

The industry centers and fast food chains trying to make their way into Trinidad?

We should all be against that

Protect the soil
Protect the flavor
Protect the one place left where food still tastes like it came from the earth🌱🌴

Drop your island below if your stomach speaks to you in America too 👇

Save this if you know exactly what I mean 💙

Share this with a Caribbean person who misses REAL food 🌴🇹🇹😭❤️‍🩹🫂

Tired. Running on fumes. Moving at night in Arizona. 🌙

But every trip on that elevator was intentional and worth it.

Do movers get a pass on elevator etiquette? Honestly… we think yes 😅

Navigating strangers, pets, children and sticky doors with someone’s entire life on a dolly?

We earned that elevator. 😭💪🏾

Drop your thoughts if you think movers deserve the whole elevator every time 👇

Have you ever kept track of the boys and men that came and went? 😂

I did.

And not one of them made me their girlfriend.

Then I met this dark, sweaty man in a warehouse pulling lingerie off a rack.

And something in me said… that’s him. 👀

I love to people watch. And he was a sight to see without even knowing it.

Our first few interactions were hilarious because I had made up my mind—I was NOT being nice to another man. I had maybe one more try left in me. That’s it.

But he was the first man to actually ask me to mean something to him.

Not assume. Not pressure.

Ask.

Now me? Full grown tomboy. Rough around every edge. Loud. Guarded. Always moving, never slowing down.

I thank God for the women who stand for femininity. Genuinely.

Because watching them is what taught me to sit down sometimes. To receive. To let someone be gentle with me without flinching.

Kareem used to say “you’re not used to a slow pace.”

And I said “well I’m a sprinter.” 😂

He wasn’t wrong though.

But WE slowed down together.

Not me. Not him.

WE.

We talked. We wrote things down. We drew pictures of what we wanted. We pulled from scripture. From podcasts. From honest conversations most couples never have.

We are not perfect.

But we are loyal. Deeply, consistently, quietly loyal.

They say Virgo man and Cancer woman is the perfect match.

I agree and disagree.

Because the anger I carried toward the entire world—quietly, deeply, for years—was genuinely softened by one man’s love, affection, compromise and kindness.

That’s not small.

That’s everything.

I’m curious what HE would say about all of this. 😂

But y’all might not get that version.

Because we are very opposite and very similar at the same time.

And I will never speak for my husband.

He takes things in a whole other direction. 😅

Happy Anniversary to the man who asked me to mean something to him—and meant it. 🖤

How do you explain to someone that does not live in Arizona. The summer weather is like opening an oven….. I found this video back in 2017 when I cut all my hair off. Heat during the day and freeze at night. That’s what I get for being fresh #arizona #dramaqueen #cac by @mrz.britt

I want to be a Passenger Princess 👑 so bad💙

One of our biggest goals right now is getting me out of the field.

Because I’m a woman who is still showing up to physically move furniture.

On days my body says no.
On days my cycle says absolutely not 😭
On days my nervous system is already stretched.

And I do it anyway.

Because the business needs it. The client needs it. The team needs it.

Sound familiar?😕🤦‍♀️

Here’s what nobody talks about when you’re self employed in the real world with limited resources:

Your nervous system is paying the bill your bank account can’t.

Not just in this industry. In life.

Managing people. Managing a marriage. Managing a business. Managing yourself. Managing my mother in law

All at once. All the time. With no luxury budget for recovery 😚😒😶‍🌫️

So I started learning how to regulate for free.

And I want to share it with you.

Here’s one free tool for each area:

🧠 Physically:
Slow your exhale down. Longer out than in. It signals safety to your brain and pulls you out of fight-or-flight instantly.

💭 Mentally:
Name what you’re feeling out loud. Labeling your emotions actually reduces their intensity. That’s not therapy speak—that’s neuroscience.

💔 Emotionally:
Cry if you need to. Cortisol literally leaves your body through tears. It’s not weakness. It’s biology completing a stress cycle you’ve been interrupting.

🙏🏾 Spiritually:
5 minutes of silence. No podcast. No music. Just stillness. Your nervous system needs input-free time daily. So does God’s voice.

Save this post.

Because I’m breaking each one of these down into its own post with more free tools for women doing everything with nothing extra to spare 💰

Not for women with monthly wellness budgets.

For us.

The ones figuring it out in real time.

Comment PHYSICAL for Part 2

That’s where we start. 💙
