In a recent interview with Nikkei, Seven & i Holdings CEO Steve Dacus revealed plans to expand further into Europe, a market he believed was underrepresented. He also expressed optimism about the Asian market and believed there are opportunities. Until 2030, Seven & I Holdings plans to allocate ¥3.2 trillion (Rp364 billion) for growth investment.

Several news outlets also reported that the company is exploring a possible return to emerging Asian markets such as Indonesia (closed in 2017) & India (closed in 2026).

In 2009, Modern International brought 7-Eleven to Indonesia. Introduced as a hangout spot, the convenience store chain opened over 150 locations in its first five years. Unfortunately, that success was short-lived, and "Sevel" eventually closed in 2017.

Indonesia's convenience store landscape has evolved since then, with Indomaret and Alfamart remaining on top, followed by Family Mart, Circle K, Lawson, etc. New players such as O!Save and K3Mart are also growing with unique selling points.

If 7-Eleven returns to Indonesia with the same model (franchising), who should they partner with, Retailnesians?

Sayangnya, kisah terse

Stepping out

Some things in life you simply cannot prepare your heart for. 💔
Just days ago, we were on set in Atlanta, bringing yet another story to life. Never imagining those moments would become memories we’d have to hold on to so soon.
Beyond your undeniable talent and dedication to your craft, what will always stand out to me is the beautiful spirit you carried. Always so incredibly kind, never a negative word about anyone or anything, never a complaint. Just a genuine smile, a joyous heart, and a warmth that made everyone around you feel welcome. Regardless of what you may have been facing in your own life, you never allowed it to overshadow the kindness you extended to others, and that speaks volumes about the man you were.
You built a body of work and a legacy deserving of recognition and celebration. It’s heartbreaking knowing there were still so many stories left to tell, dreams to fulfill, and flowers you deserved to receive while you were here.
My prayer is that your name continues to be spoken, your work celebrated, and your kindness remembered.
To your family and loved ones, my deepest prayers and condolences.
Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and most importantly, the example you set simply by being a genuinely good human being.
Your presence was a gift. Your kindness was your character. Your work is your legacy.

🙏🏼 Job well done, Hakeem. Rest peacefully 🕊️🤍
