I just recently read about the history of Welch grape juice. I had to make a carousel out of it. 😅
Fascinating story about Thomas Welch who is trying to solve for communion without alcohol.
He had some unique ways to pasteurize the grape juice. He stopped pursuing the endeavor because many churches just wouldn't get on board with what he was doing.
He ended up going into dentistry.
It wasn't until 1893 that his son Charles Welch revisited what his father was trying to do and shepherded the dream a bit further.
Today, the Welch product name is owned by a co-op of about 670 family farms and produces almost a billion dollars a year.
