God is not silent. You just can’t pick His voice out of the noise. You know what it’s like when you’re in a packed room and your kid yells for you across the crowd. You don’t have to strain. You don’t have to guess. You hear it instantly. Every other voice becomes background. Because you’re tuned in to that one. A friend showed me a video of a shepherd on a hillside with a group of tourists. The shepherd challenges them to call the sheep in. So they try. The men yell one way. The women yell another. Everyone gets creative. Loud, funny, exaggerated calls echoing across the field. The sheep never look up. They just keep grazing. Then the shepherd steps forward and makes one specific sound. Not loud. Just specific. And the sheep stop, lift their heads, and run to him. That’s what tuning in looks like. That’s what recognition sounds like. That’s what most of us have lost. If you can’t hear God right now, it is probably not because He went quiet. It is because you have been listening to too many other voices for too long, and your ear has forgotten the sound of the one that actually made you. John 10:27. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Whose voices have gotten louder than His in your life this year, and what would it take to turn the volume down? You asked God for 300. He gave you 115. Most of us respond the same way. Something’s broken. I heard Him wrong. I ran the numbers wrong. This thing must not be working out. But what if the number is not the point? What if 115 is exactly what He meant to give you? Here’s the pattern I keep seeing in my own life. God hands me step A and I sprint to step Z. I want the full map. I want the whole outcome. I want enough margin that I stop needing Him. And He knows me too well for that. So He keeps me on 115. Enough to eat. Not enough to coast. Enough to stay employed by Him. Not enough to think I got here on my own. If He gave you the 300, you might get comfortable. You might think you built it. You might quietly stop praying with the same urgency. He is not withholding from you. He is keeping you close. Proverbs 30:8. “Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.” Daily bread is not scarcity. It is proximity. It is God saying stay near me. You do not know anything yet. What if the number you did not get was actually the mercy? Comment LEADERSHIP to receive the 5 Secrets to Leading Biblically Guide Let’s connect! The best prayer an entrepreneur can pray is not “help me hustle harder.” Darren said something recently that reframed it for me. The prayer is: “Lord, what should I be going 110 percent on today?” Some days the answer is twelve or fourteen hours locked in on the one thing. Some days it’s answering a few emails and taking your kids to the zoo. Both are obedience. Both deserve your full presence. Most Christian entrepreneurs default to grind. It feels productive. It feels responsible. It feels like faith wearing work clothes. But full-throttle every single day is not a strategy. It’s a coping mechanism. Darren and his co-founder are running their business by asking one or two questions each morning. What is God asking us to get done today? And what does 110 percent look like on that thing? The freedom in that framing is real. It gives you permission to work hard and pursue excellence. It also gives you permission to look up in the middle of a demanding season and admit you’re tired without guilt. Colossians 3:23. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Heartily is the standard. But the what you do is a daily conversation with Him. What is God actually asking you to go 110 percent on today, and are you doing that or something else? Comment LEADERSHIP to receive the 5 Secrets to Leading Biblically Guide Let’s connect! There is depth in how you surrender. Darren shared something recently that landed hard. He’s stepping into a season where he and his partner practically need somewhere around $200K to $300K to move forward. That’s the honest math. So he started conditioning his mind: we need to raise at least $200K to $300K. Makes sense on paper. Then he caught himself. If God has called him into this, the number he’s fixating on might be irrelevant. It probably isn’t zero. But it doesn’t have to be $300K either. A recent crowdfund raised $115K in two weeks. That could be more than enough to keep it moving. His words: “Practically I want something. But maybe God wants to do it another way.” That’s the surrender most Christian leaders skip. We hear the call, we accept the vision, and then we quietly grip the how. The budget. The timeline. The specific version of success we already sketched in our head. Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” The calling might be clear. The path is His to draw. Where are you gripping the how right now on something God has already given you the what for? I just recently read about the history of Welch grape juice. I had to make a carousel out of it. 😅 Fascinating story about Thomas Welch who is trying to solve for communion without alcohol. He had some unique ways to pasteurize the grape juice. He stopped pursuing the endeavor because many churches just wouldn't get on board with what he was doing. He ended up going into dentistry. It wasn't until 1893 that his son Charles Welch revisited what his father was trying to do and shepherded the dream a bit further. Today, the Welch product name is owned by a co-op of about 670 family farms and produces almost a billion dollars a year. by @lighthouse.daily.word
