Look at the face longest.

The eyes aren’t meeting the viewer. They’ve gone somewhere else, somewhere inward, the particular stillness of someone genuinely thinking rather than holding an expression for the room. That’s the real subject of this acrylic painting. Not the arm resting on the stool, not even the color, but a person caught mid-thought, unaware anyone’s watching closely enough to notice.

Guillo Pérez 3 @guilloperez3 built the rest of the painting around that feeling. A field of hot magenta with gold breaking through in one corner, and the figure rendered in that same warm yellow, tying her directly into the space instead of separating her from it. An old trick painters have used for centuries to keep a figure from feeling cut out and pasted onto its background.

Nothing here reads staged or documented. It reads as a private moment that happened to be witnessed.

Available now at Marcolina’s Fine Arts Gallery in Tampa.
