31-yr-old dad drowns while trying to rescue a trapped seagull

William Stone Romberg, a 31-year-old hospitality manager and father of two, has tragically drowned while attempting to rescue a seagull he accidentally hooked while fishing at Panama City Beach, Florida.

Romberg was fishing near Phillips Inlet on Sunday afternoon when his line became entangled with the bird. According to his employer, La Dolce Vita, he immediately went into the water to free the animal.

The married father was with friends near the Pinnacle Port Condominiums when he swam towards the trapped seagull. However, while trying to untangle the fishing lure, his hand became caught on the bird and the hook.

He attempted to make his way back to shore but was pulled farther into the water by the current and eventually drowned.

“Stone tragically lost his life while fishing at the beach and attempting to help a bird caught in his fishing line. His kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him, and he will be deeply missed,”his employer said.

Romberg, who was originally from Atlanta, Georgia, leaves behind his wife, Taylor, and their daughters, aged one and three. The family had celebrated their youngest child’s first birthday just two weeks before the tragedy.

They really said “nah, we’re keeping the light side” 😭

This is a scene from Star Wars showing an alternate timeline where Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala rule as dark side emperors, with their younger children Luke and Leia standing before them in the Imperial court. Rows of Royal Guards and Stormtroopers fill the throne room behind them. The post is framed as “what they took from him”, imagining what Anakin’s life could have been if he’d never fallen to darkness and instead built a different kind of empire with Padmé at his side, keeping his family intact and in power rather than scattered across the galaxy as rebels and fugitives.

The Skywalker saga hinges on Anakin’s turn to the dark side and the catastrophic ripple effects across three generations.
