Most people assume Side A Track 1 of the Variety album is "Plastic Love"... but it’s actually “Mō Ichido” (もう一度)!
This was the very first song Mariya Takeuchi wrote herself after taking a two-year hiatus from the music scene and marrying Tatsuro Yamashita. It marked a brand-new era where she took 100% creative control of her songwriting. Those smooth, background harmonies you hear? That’s Mariya harmonizing with her husband and musical partner, Tatsuro. ✨📻
"Mō Ichido" translates to "One More Time"—the perfect opening track for Side A on this iconic album, spinning here on the 2021 Reissue Edition (180g Heavyweight Vinyl) with its faithful reproduction of the legendary 1984 red OBI strip.

God, I love "Variety" so much! A lovely gem from the 80s. It's filled to the brim with gems like "Honki De Only You," "Mersey Beat de Utawasete," "Going Steady," and so many more. It honestly sucks that people only talk about "Plastic Love"
