When we first rescued Rocky he used to follow my voice around and then when he moved to his new family in Bangkok, it was amazing to see him follow their voices. But this smart dog has picked up a new trick from his wonderful brother, Coconut.

Coconut himself is disabled after getting injuries when he was a young boy but he now knows that Rocky is blind and is able to walk him around on a lead like the most normal thing in the world. Even on the very first day when I dropped Rocky off, I could see that he had a very special connection with his new brother. But things really have gone to another level.

The other thing that blows me away is just looking at Rocky's fur and his weight. He might have lost his eyesight but to see such a healthy boy so loved by his family and his brothers really is one of the most magical sights in the world.

@rockysroommates is always my first stop daily to see what they are all up to! ❤️

BASIC INCOME FOR THE ARTS: MAJOR UPDATE

The Government has secured €34.4 million in Budget 2027 to fully fund the new Basic Income for the Arts scheme.

Here’s what you need to know:

2,000 professional artists will receive €325 per week for three years.

Up to 750 successful applicants will be notified via email from Thursday, 15 October.

All applicants will receive a status update this week.

Just over 10,000 applications were received.

Payments will be made monthly at €1,413.21.

Payments beginning in 2026 will be backdated to September; those beginning in 2027 will be paid from or backdated to January.

This marks a significant milestone for artists in Ireland, establishing a long-term scheme built on the evidence and success of the Basic Income for the Arts Pilot.

Congratulations to @patrickodonovan_td and his department on their work towards this, and in particular former minister Catherine Martin for starting the scheme.

Keep an eye on your email for updates from the Department.
