Yesterday was a day of celebration at the fifth annual WashU OT Internal Awards. This event celebrates recent accomplishments of our employees, recognizes milestone years of service and highlights a few individuals who exemplify our core values and make exceptional contributions to the work and mission of the Program in OT.

আগমনী | একটি প্রার্থনা ।

মহালয়ার ভোরে আমরা অপেক্ষা করি মা দুর্গার আগমনের। চারিদিকে বাজে ঢাক, শোনা যায় আগমনী গান, আলোয় সেজে ওঠে শহর।
কিন্তু এই শহরেই, প্রতিদিন কত মেয়ে বাড়ি ফেরে একরাশ অনিশ্চয়তা আর অজানা আশঙ্কা নিয়ে।
একজন মেয়ে নিরাপদে বাড়ি ফিরলে শুধু একটি দরজাই খোলে না, স্বস্তির নিঃশ্বাস ফেলে একটি পুরো পরিবার। মায়ের মুখে ফুটে ওঠে হাসি, ফিরে আসে ঘরের নিশ্চিন্ত আনন্দ।

দুর্গাকে আমরা দেবী হিসেবে বরণ করি। প্রতিটি মেয়েকেও দিই নিরাপদে বাঁচার অধিকার।

এই মহালয়ায় আমাদের প্রার্থনা হোক—

প্রতিটি মেয়ের পথ হোক নিরাপদ, প্রতিটি বাড়িতে ফিরুক নিশ্চিন্তির হাসি।

কারণ, প্রতিটি মেয়ের নিরাপদে বাড়ি ফেরা—এক-একটি আগমনী।

“এই পুজোয় প্রতিমার পাশাপাশি নিরাপত্তাকেও বরণ করি।”

The recent violent attack on a young woman at a crosswalk is a painful reminder that personal safety is a conversation we cannot afford to ignore.

I joined Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt David Ellard on The Portia Show on FOX 5 to demonstrate three self-defense scenarios:

• Wrist-grab / hair-grab defense
• Choke-and-drag defense
• Knife-threat defense

As a U.S. Army Veteran and Taekwondo black belt, I believe every woman and child deserves access to self-defense education.

Let me be clear: No one is ever responsible for being attacked. And no self-defense technique can guarantee safety. But knowledge, awareness, and preparation can make a difference.
