As I look back on my 35th trip around the sun, I learned so so much about myself. In the last year, I got engaged to my best friend, the best moment of my life.

I left a job I wanted to be at forever because the greatest working group was dismantled by some nerd looking at a spreadsheet. My decision was made on principle.

I jumped out of my lane and took a big swing that resulted in me having to stand up for myself in a way that I wouldn’t have in previous years. 6 months in, my position was eliminated. Setback? Sure, I’m trying to pay for a wedding but my pops always said, never let em see you sweat. And I didn’t.

What was most apparent to me during my time being unemployed is that I am surrounded by so much LOVE! My family, my friends, my network are the reason why I never had anxiety about being jobless.

So as I turn 36, I know myself better than I ever have. I have the most incredible fiancé, my literal rock, who has had my back since Day 1. I’m very grateful for the lessons I’ve learned. It’s making me the best version of myself, someone that Granny and Darius would be extremely proud of. Add my homies into that mix and I’ll be good for life.

What’s next? All I can say is, I’m back! 😈
